Waste Services

Effective January 2023, the city of Lakeshire has contracted with Republic Services to provide recycling, trash, and yard waste services to all residents.  They can be contacted at 636-947-5959, or download their convenient app in your app store, just search for “Republic Services”.

SERVICE DAYS:  RECYCLING/TRASH – WEEKLY ON WEDNESDAY

YARD WASTE (optional service) – WEEKLY ON FRIDAY

Pricing for the year 2023 for recycling and trash service, per residential unit, is $18.50/month (billed quarterly $55.50).  This price includes one cart each for recycling and trash.  Trash must be bagged and contained inside your cart; recycling should be loose in the cart and “empty, clean and dry”.  Bags or boxes outside of the cart will NOT be serviced.  NOTE:  This price does not apply to multi-family units serviced with a dumpster.

Bulk item pickup is once a month and included in above rate.  You can dispose of (2) items per month at no charge.  Bulk will be picked up on the first Wednesday of the month.  Any additional bulk items over the limit you wish to set out is $25/item.  Acceptable bulk items include: carpet cut into bundles no longer than 4 foot and 24 inches in diameter; furniture, mattresses.  Unacceptable items are appliances, electronics, concrete, home remodel debris such as drywall, fencing, etc.  Please call Republic Services at 636-947-5959 if you wish to schedule a bulk pickup of more than two items.

White Goods/Appliances can be collected by contact Republic Services; cost is $36.60 per appliance.

Yard waste service is optional, it is offered year-round for $13.00/month (billed quarterly $39.00).  Contact Republic Services if you want to have this service.  There is a minimum three-month commitment.  Acceptable yard waste containers include biodegradable paper bags, personal containers (no larger than 32 gallons with a lid or handle) or bundles of tree trimming, no larger than 4 foot in length and 6 inches diameter, tied with string or twine (no wire).

TIPS TO RECYCLE RIGHT:

  • Do not bag your recyclables – keep them loose in the cart
  • Make sure your materials are empty, clean, and dry
  • Acceptable materials include:
    • Metal/Tin/Aluminum cans
    • Paper and Cardboard
    • Plastic containers, Glass bottles and Cartons
  • Unacceptable materials:
    • PLASTIC BAGS – recycle at your local grocery store, do not put them in your cart
    • Styrofoam/Polystyrene
